Since their 1968 inception, Hypertherm have been at the forefront of Plasma Cutting technology, and this is as true today as it was 42 years ago, and 75 patents later, innovations to improve cut quality, extend service life, enhance productivity, and lower operating costs are still the norm at Hypertherm. In fact, the company dedicates more resources to plasma research, development, and testing than any other plasma-cutting manufacturer in the world.

One area that has showed up as a concern to end users is that of hole cutting, specifically in 30gauge to 25mm thick steel plate, and as a result, Hypertherm have developed their TrueHole Technology.

As the name suggests, it addresses the area of excessive taper and lack of definition when hole cutting with plasma, resulting in a finished hole – right off the torch.

There have been machines available with drilling capabilities built in to them for some time now, but they’re an expensive option, and the hidden costs of extra tooling and extra machine servicing, quickly extend the time that companies can get a return on their investment; and possibly eat up the profit in much of the work they’re used on.

PPT have been closely involved in the worldwide release of Hypertherm’s TrueHole Technology and have the benefit of over 20 years hands on experience with Hypertherm’s product range.

PPT was present at the recent South Pacific release of the TrueHole product suite which includes the new EdgePro control, HRP-XD series plasma systems, the new ArcGlide Torch Height Control and ProNest 2010 nesting software.

These four core parts of Hypertherm’s TrueHole Technology, when combined with genuine Hypertherm consumables and an accurate CNC plasma machine such as the ProArc Master Dual Side Drive Series, places fast repeatable high quality plasma cutting into the end users hands, and allows them to not only compete with the expensive drill equipped machines, but in most, if not all circumstances; out perform them in cutting time and the finished product.
